“We had a bitter taste in the final four”

Los Indios ended 2021 by winning the AJB Tournament, clearly having the best squad in the city, since it also competed in the Pre Federal. The team led by Andrade reached the Final Four and managed to define it as local, but incredibly lost all three games and was on the verge of promotion.

Democracia spoke with Ignacio Moral, a player from the Canary Islands, who told us about his feelings: “Although we were left with the bitter taste of having been so close to the goal, I think we can’t blame ourselves for anything, we left everything behind. In the long run we had a great tournament and in the final four the three games were even, they were decided in the last minutes and we had the bad luck of not being able to close them as we wanted, unfortunately”.

The basketball player from Linque also analyzed what the AJB Tournament was: “Regarding the local championship, I think we had a great tournament from start to finish, thanks to the fact that we were all committed throughout the contest, whether in each game and training, we were a long team with a good rotation and thanks to that we were able to reach the end of the tournament very well”.

The pivot was a reinforcement of the Canario and recounted his experience: “Personally I felt very well, although there were two tournaments where the rest was little due to the competition we had, the balance was positive. It was a year where I had to learn from my mistakes and thus continue adding to what is to come, luckily thanks to my teammates and coaching staff, things became easier and that way you feel calmer and safer”.

He also underlined the importance of the human group: “Although the team was one of the best groups in which I had to be, since they personally received me from ten and I felt like one of them from the first day, it was a very united group where each one always gave everything, where we had to train very hard throughout the year and that was reflected on the field, we all always pulled in the same direction and there was never a reproach, fight or discussion that generated a bad atmosphere within it, Unfortunately, the only bad thing we had was the injuries”.

Thus, Los Indios will seek to repeat in the Local tournament, thinking about the next Pre Federal that will begin in mid-2022.
