What has to happen for Novak Djokovic to lose No. 1?

Novak Djokovic will not only be deprived of playing the Australian Open 2022 but could also lose the No. 1 in the world at the hands of Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev.

The Serbian currently has 11,015 points of which he will lose 2,000 (he will go to 9,015) on February 21, 2022, the date on which the Australian Open 2021 is one year old.

Daniil Medvedev, No. 2 in the world, he has 8935 points and was a finalist in 2021 (1200 points). If he won the tournament, he would add 800 points and go to 9735: that way he would surpass Djokovic.

Alexander Zverev, No. 3 in the world, He has 7,970 points and reached the quarterfinals in 2021 (360 points). If he won the tournament, he would add 1640 points and go to 9610.

If this happens, it would be the first time in almost 20 years with a No. 1 outside the Big 4: the last was Andy Roddick in 2003.
