Why Bryson DeChambeau will not be in the Netflix Docu Series? – PGA Tour

Bryson DeChambeau will not be one of the key characters in the next Netflix docu-series on the PGA Tour and he explained this during the videoconference organized this week to present Saudi International, of which he will be one of the headliners.

Inspired and produced by the same folks who made the F1 series “Drive To Survive” a worldwide hit, the Docu Series on the PGA Tour offers a dream cast. It will take us behind the scenes of the lives of players and make us experience the tournaments of the circuit from the inside with, in particular, agreements given by the 4 Grand Slams!

Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Viktor Hovland, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas…etc… A long list of players who have agreed with Netflix but which does not include Bryson DeChambeau.

Willingness to maintain control

Indeed the world number 8 confided that he thought that the cameras of the streaming platform were too invasive, mean by that that he feared that they would disturb him. The “Bison” certainly wishes to continue to control its communication through its YouTube channel which has more than 230,000 subscribers and its Instagram account (848 followers). Social networks on which he is very active.

It’s just too overwhelming for me. I have a life outside of that.

DeChambeau also told reporters that he “wouldn’t want to take the light off” other PGA Tour pros who had agreed to be on the show…

“There are a lot of factors that come into play,” DeChambeau told reporters this week. “First, we did not find an agreement. I love Netflix. I watch it and have a good time. But as far as I’m concerned, it’s not the right time.”

Bryson DeChambeau explains that he already gives a lot to his fans. “They have a really good overview of my life, so having even more people around me coming into my life is next to impossible. It’s just too overwhelming for me. I have a life outside of that.

More room for others

Although it won’t, DeChambeau thinks Netflix’s new PGA Tour series will be a big hit, especially with Harry Higgs in the lineup.

“There are a lot of great characters and a lot more interesting stories. You have Harry Higgs for example. There are many more. I don’t want to take the light away from them.”

Very magnanimous DeChambeau therefore wishes to leave the possibility to the “less known” to take up more space and to flourish in turn from a media point of view.
