The president of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), Ricardo Fraccari, rejected this Saturday the politicization of sport and the boycott of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
“We never have to mix politics with sports, nor can anything be done to prevent or limit participation in the Olympic Games,” Fraccari said in response to a question from Xinhua about a so-called “boycott” by certain countries of the Olympic Games. Winter Olympics that begins on February 4 in the Chinese capital.
The sports director considered as an error everything that affects the participation of athletes in these games.
Fraccari arrived in Cuba this Thursday to attend the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the National Amateur Baseball Series, which is being held in the Caribbean country on January 14. It will also inaugurate several baseball and softball training academies and will attend the signing of a sponsorship agreement between the Italian sports equipment company TeamMate Sports and the Cuban Baseball Federation.
