How do you value this balance?
I appreciate her. So far, no one from the boys or girls has managed to start at one Olympics in three disciplines, which is a big challenge. And the Fourth Olympics? I already know how to do it, I have more experience, twelve years at the highest level is a long time. The Olympics are different in that they are more of a Czech national team than I am personally.
What comes to mind from your previous three Olympic starts?
Vancouver was the best experience. The first Olympics, it was great that we could live right in the city, with the hockey players, we saw Jaromír Jágr, it was wow. In Sochi, I was surprised by the size of the obstacles, I have never ridden a bigger one before. The hill was beautiful, we drove in powder, it was a great experience. And I had such mixed emotions from Pyongyang, they let us ride in a big wind, it was quite tragic. But I enjoyed all the Olympics.
How have you changed since Vancouver?
I was eighteen then, and I went head-to-head. It also cost me some injuries. Now I’m more prudent and calmer, I’m still trying to improve, but I’m not breaking my knee. And I’m married, otherwise I don’t think anything has changed.
Are you still looking for motivation to ride just as easily?
I really enjoy snowboarding in itself. Fly through the air, have control of the board. The fact that I’m a little more careful and don’t go head-to-head helps me. I’m not so hurt, I can ride more, and that’s why I have better tricks.
Can you still improve?
I’d say I’m the best career driver now. I’m working on the backside 1080 T-shirt, which only a few of the girls did. I had good training, I just haven’t managed to leave him in the race yet. For example, it will work out at the Olympics, I said to myself that before I end my career, I have to leave. I’m well off, I showed my best tricks in the races…
Which of the disciplines do you believe in the most?
I rode slopestyle the most, then Big Air, I qualified at the ramp at the last minute. The box would of course be great, I’ll see more after the first training sessions. They say there is a lot of scythe and it often blows, which complicates the situation for us a bit, so I’ll see how I deal with it.
How do you even look forward to the Olympic Games affected by anti-civic restrictions?
Those emotions are mixed, there will be a lot of regulation, someone won’t even be able to go because of the covid, but I try not to stress. I’ll be happy when we leave, I don’t know how much we’ll be cut off from other sports, I’d definitely like to be able to see them.
Unfortunately, only your snowboard colleague Eva Samková will not make it to the game.
That’s a terrible pity, we were bad about it. I wish her to be mainly healthy, the Olympics are secondary, but we will miss them. Evka always has good energy, so now I’m sending her some too, so that her ankles grow well.
Have you had a covid infection yet?
I had to miss the last World Cup because of that. We were in Canada on slopestyle, the first day I was negative, the third day I was positive. I had to stay in a hotel for five days, then I could go to America, the process was easy.
