cousin round
This round is characterized by some famous surprises: Holland, Australia and Italy respectively win against the Dominican Republic (twice), Mexico and Canada. By winning twice, the Dutchman managed to go through, leaving the Dominican Republic in the dock. The other seven qualifiers were planned.
Group A
The Asian group is the only one that does not generate big surprises. The Japanese and Korean favorites pass the round without shaking. The two oppositions between the qualifiers translate into a division, one victory each, but Korea, which takes away the second match, inherits the first place in the group.
Group B
Australia is the sensation of this group: victory against Mexico and a narrow defeat against Cuba. In the second match against the Mexicans, however, Australia sinks. Cubans and Mexicans, expected favorites, go through, but with little fears in the face of the unexpected Australian. South Africa, by far the weakest team of the tournament, showed nothing.

Having held up well against the United States in the first match, Canada was eliminated from the competition to everyone’s surprise from Italy (6-2). This Italian victory, however, does not allow the Azzurri to go through with two heavy defeats against Venezuela.
Group D
Heralded as the scarecrow of the competition, the Dominican Republic was surprised by a valiant Dutch team signing the biggest surprise in the history of the young competition. The Dutchman scored three points in the first set, taking advantage in particular of a mistake by the Dominican second base. They then manage to contain the Dominicans who get eight hits for two points.
Defeated by Puerto Rico in the second game, the Netherlands met the Dominican Republic in the third game, decisive to move on to the next round. Holland, always very serious in defense, managed to keep the Dominican army in check for 10 innings. The Dominicans believe they have made the most difficult opening of the windward mark 11 ° inning, but faced with one of the top notable pitchers in MLB, the Dutchman sent three runners on base for two points until he managed to win the game.
