380 players are expected, Saturday February 5 and Sunday February 6, in Pontivy, for the 7th edition of the Pondi Tournament, organized by the Réveil Laïque Pontivyen (RLP) badminton.
For this return, after the impediment of the 2021 edition, the RLP Badminton raises the level of competition and welcomes, for the first time, National 2 badminton players.
“From unclassified to N2”
“Our tournament is open to everyone, from unclassified to N2. A level that should promise spectacular matches in the final stages,” announce the organizers.
Saturday, the single tables men and women will be played, for a part, room Le Drogo, and, to finish, room of Kérentré, before giving way to the mixed doubles. On Sunday, Kérentré room, the tournament will be dedicated to men’s and women’s doubles.

The number of participants is also growing. Competitors are expected from all over France. Among them, the title holder in singles, Thibault Kosior (Saint-Jacques Badminton), will face his club mate, Raphaël Chenu (180th Frenchman). But also to Raphaël Bourhis, from Rostrenen, Rayane Mouri, from Créteil (141), Mickaël Phomsoupha, from the Flying club of the three borders (54 in mixed). On the women’s side, Anne-Laure Guéhenneuc, from the Maure Badminton Club, (161) will be to follow.
24 licensees of the RLP will play, while they will be about thirty to be volunteers. “The demand was great and some tables were quickly sold out,” notes the president, Nicolas Garnier.

“For players who need to find this type of competition, we made the bet to organize our tournament. Despite the constraints linked to sanitary conditions, and even without a bar, which is one of the main sources of profits in general, ”specifies the president. 465 matches will be played.
