KOMPAS.com – The Vietnam national team managed to advance to the final of the AFF U23 Cup after defeating Timor Leste in the semifinals.
Vietnam’s certainty to the top party was obtained after winning 5-3 over Timor Leste via penalty shootout after playing 0-0 for 120 minutes in a match held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, Thursday (24/2/2022) night WIB.
Vietnam is in a difficult situation against Timor Leste due to a shortage of players, because several players have been exposed to Covid-19.

The winner must be determined through a penalty shootout following a goalless draw for 120 minutes.
Penalty shootout
On the first occasion, the Vietnam and Timor Leste national teams both managed to score goals.
Tran Quang Thinh and Filomeno were the first goalscorers in the penalty shootout from both sides.
On the second occasion, both sides managed to score again through Ho Khac Loung and Orcelio Da Silva.
On the third occasion, Vietnam and Timor Leste again managed to score goals through Vu Dinh Hai and Gumario Moreira.
On the fourth occasion, Timor Leste failed to score after Jhon Oliveira’s shot was pushed over by the Vietnam goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese execution entered. The score is 4-3 for the advantage of the Vietnamese side Tran Bao Toan.
Vietnam also managed to win the penalty shootout with a score of 5-3 after the last Golden Star Warriors player Nguyen Thanh Nhan scored a goal.
