After more than ten years, Robert Maury leaves the presidency of the Autumn Suns of Saint-Jean-du-Falga

the essential
Robert Maury, 90, has just left the presidency of the Suns of Autumn at the end of the last general assembly. He looks back on his years at the head of the association.

When did you join Les Soleils d’automne?

After a first association experience as president of the Pamiers archery club, I chose the Suns of Autumn. Leaving the youth to join the elders.

“We have gone from 80 members to more than 160 in just three years. »

What is your background ?

First a member in 2004, I became assistant treasurer in 2005 and then very quickly treasurer. In 2010, my health forced me to pass the baton. And I took over the presidency as soon as I returned in 2011.

What have you achieved with the association?

We have grown from 80 members to more than 160 in just three years.

We allow people who are often alone to have fun and share. Especially during the eleven annual dinner dances.

We offer everyone the opportunity to find their childhood friends.

What other club activities are there?

We do many trips. For example, during my presidency, we were able to visit Italy, the Rhine Valley, Portugal, but also a large number of local outings in the South West. Always with a smile and in a good mood. A club where members feel good together.

Why are you leaving this role?

It is with regret that I leave the presidency for health reasons. I can no longer dance and moving around has become difficult for me. I passed the baton to Arlette Teuilliere who intends to continue in the same vein. Always for the happiness of all. New blood has joined the association. Michel Escale, with the Pamiers tarot club, and Georges Millian, with his dance school. I am confident for the continuation of this association in which I remain a member.

Robert’s life

Born in Narbonne, Robert Maury moved to Ariège at the age of 1 and was built in Saint-Jean in 1983.
He began his career at the Pamiers factory before being made redundant. He then becomes a career soldier. He was able to work as an electrician in various countries (Laos, Niger, Madagascar, etc.).
He will end his career at the Nouvelles Galeries and within the Gimet establishments as a refrigeration specialist.
