After the Can, Abdoul Taposba confides in his future at Standard: “I want to stay but not under any conditions”

After his first major international competition, Abdoul Tapsoba returns to Belgium full of confidence.

It was a surprise to see him lined up at the start of the Can opener against the host country. Less than two months after an injury in Leuven where a 15cm gash on his shin nearly wiped out his African Cup of Nations dreams, Abdoul Tapsoba has done the job.

A satisfactory record despite reduced physical abilities following a truncated preparation due to the clash with Alex Runarsson. Joined in Cameroon before the match for third place which he played for 87 minutes and where the Stallions spoiled a three-goal lead, the Standard striker confided in himself without evading the slightest subject.

Whether on the Can, his integration in Belgium, his relationship with Mbaye Leye, the confidence granted by Luka Elsner and his future when he arrives at the end of his contract in Liège next summer: his calm tone reflects a certain maturity contrary to his twenty years. And a determined will. “I don’t want to leave but I need to play.”
