The end of the Badminton League is approaching, and tonight the penultimate round of the Badminton League was played. The round featured one favorite victory, where all five teams at the top of the table lived up to the favorite dignity and each won their league matches. Thus, the battle for the four Final 4 places has not yet been decided.
Værløse and Gentofte are side by side in the table and only one point separated them before tonight’s match.
Værløse faced Solrød in the penultimate round and here Værløse managed to win the match 7-2 over ‘Tsunami’. To the great joy of Ditlev Holm, who was aware that this round was a very important one of its kind.
– Of course I’m really happy with our victory. We knew we were under pressure and that we all had to play up to our best to keep alive in the hope of a Final 4 spot. So it is clear that we are really happy with the victory, it sounds from Ditlev, who won in both men’s singles and men’s doubles.

Ditlev Holm and the rest of the Værløse team dream of qualifying for Final 4 again.
– We really want to be in the Final 4 again. We have had two insanely good experiences – and it is always cool to play for Final 4. We will give that gas in the last round, says Ditlev.
In the last round, Værløse meets the undefeated Skovshoved team. According to Ditlev, it will be a difficult match where things have to be calculated beforehand.
– Skovshovedkampen will be a tough one. They have some really good players and that’s a really good team. But we have to go home and look at the line-up and see where we can win and how many matches we have to win to qualify for Final 4, Ditlev Holm explains.

Once again, Skovshoved managed to send the opponents home with a defeat in the bag. This time it went beyond Team Skælskør-Slagelse, who otherwise gave Skovshoved a fight to the line. The match started with a victory for each team in mixed doubles. In the women’s singles Kristin Kuuba and Kati Tolmoff from Skovshoved won over Yvonne Li and Alyssa Tirtosentono respectively.
In the men’s singles category, it was TSS’s Dutchman Marc Caljouw and Swedish Felix Burestedt who played best and thus the position was just before the doubles had to decide the league match.
Unfortunately for TSS, Skovshoved wins the first men’s doubles without a match. Skovshoved’s second men’s double with Joel Eipe / Daniel Lundgaard wins and thus the ‘foresters’ can rejoice that they have won the team match.
Amalie Magelund / Freja Ravn, however, get decorated for TSS defeat, as they win tonight’s last match in the third set 21-19, 19-21, 21-14 over Sara Lundgaard / Mette Poulsen.

In Gentofte, an exciting team match was planned between Gentofte and Odense OBK. Before tonight’s match, Gentofte was in fifth place in the table, just one point behind Værløse in fourth place. There were therefore really important points to pick up for Gentofte.
Kasper Antonsen / Christine Busch and Kristian Kræmer / Line Christophersen from Gentofte each won their mixed doubles and ensured Gentofte a good start to the match. Line Christophersen continued the good game and also won her women’s single over Camilla Martens.
In men’s singles, Pablo Abian was too big a mouthful for Mads Christophersen, who lost the match 21-13, 21-10. In the second men’s singles, Christopher Vittoriani won over Søren Hald, who had to withdraw in the middle of the second set. When Søren Hald was also on the team line-up in the second men’s doubles, it meant that Gentofte won it without a match.
In the last two doubles, Sara Thygesen / Maiken and Wiliam Boe Kryger / Søren Gravholdt from Odense won and the match therefore ended 6-3 to the home team from Gentofte, who are still in the battle for the coveted Final 4 places.

Højbjerg took a big step towards the ambition to qualify for this year’s Final 4, when they won over Greve at home. Højbjerg managed to win 8 out of 9 matches tonight.
The only defeat that could be attributed to Højbjerg was Hans Kristian Vittinghus’ defeat over Jiří Král. This match was also the closest match in Højbjerg tonight. The match ended 19-21, 21-19, 21-19 in Jiří Král’s favor. With the big victory, Højbjerg can be happy to be number three in the table.
Further up the table we find Vendsyssel, who tonight defended first place in the basic game. The team won 8-2 over Aarhus AB, which is just above the relegation line in the table.
Vendsyssel won all its matches except the two women’s singles, where Aarhus AB’s Anne Fuglsang won 21-15, 18-21, 21-19 over Josefine R. Jensen and Iris Wang won over Kirsty Gilmour 22-20, 21-17. The match thus ended 7-2 to Vendsyssel.
Thus, a picture emerges that it is Vendsyssel who runs with the first place in the basic game. However, this may change already on Thursday, when the very last round of the season’s Badminton League is played. It is also on Thursday that we find the four Final 4 teams.
