For the third consecutive year, Oropesa de Mar (Castellón) hosted the Spanish Indoor Archery Championships, making Marina d’Or the national capital of this sport. More than 500 athletes have competed in all categories of the recurve and compound bow divisions.
On the afternoon of last Friday 18, the two individual qualifying rounds were shot, arrow by arrow, the Alcazar native Ana Rodríguez, remained among the top five, to finish the classification with the third best score 565 points, coming to dream then that in the qualifiers, he had a good chance of reaching the finals. After overcoming the rounds of sixteenth, eighth and quarterfinals, with a lot of effort and concentration, she managed to get into the grand final of the Spanish Championship.
After a beautiful and very close women’s final in compound bow between Ana Rodríguez from the Alcazarco club in Alcázar de San Juan and Lucía Alejo from the Águila Imperial club in Toledo, two archers teammates, the Alcazar woman managed to hang the silver medal and the title of runner-up of Spain
In the team modality and representing Castilla-La Mancha, the team made up of Ana Rodríguez from Alcazar, Lucía Alejo from the Águila Imperial de Toledo club and Arantxa Serrano from Cuenca from the Las Lomas de Cuenca club, brilliantly managed to proclaim themselves runners-up in Spain.
Without a doubt, they were moments full of emotion and nerves, but very beautiful.
Also competing in these 2002 Spanish Championships was the archer from Alcázar Juan Manuel Rodríguez from the Alcázar de San Juan club in the absolute individual category in the women’s compound bow and men’s compound bow and men’s team category.
