Young Archers from Lot-et-Garonne Dominate Regional Indoor championships
The weekend of February 12th and 13th saw the culmination of months of training as archers from across the region gathered for the indoor league championships. While adult archers battled it out in La Roche-Chalais (24), the younger generation showcased their skills in Lescar (64), hosted by the “Les Compagnons de l’arc” club.
A remarkable 105 young archers, ranging from the youngest “poussin” category too juniors, participated in the 18-meter competition. Lot-et-Garonne was particularly well-represented, with clubs from Marmande, Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Tombeboeuf, and boé sending a strong contingent of 13 young athletes.
The results were a testament to the dedication and talent of these young archers.robin Lavie, Eva Cabrerizo Deswazière, and Nino Bitria all secured gold medals in their respective categories, with Nino Bitria continuing the Archers de Boé’s extraordinary three-year winning streak. Matthias Teyssedre from Marmande also put in a strong performance, finishing in a commendable fourth place.
The podium was further adorned with silver medals for Julie Cedo (minimes), Julie Michel (junior), and hugo Lafforgue (junior). Julie Cedo edged out fellow Lot-et-Garonne archer Lucie Filhastre,while Julie Michel bested Cindy Nefflier from Villeneuve-sur-lot. The junior category saw a thrilling semi-final clash between Hugo Lafforgue and his Boé teammate lucas Defevre, with Hugo ultimately emerging victorious in a closely contested 6-4 match. Yvon Laforgue rounded out the medal haul with a bronze in the minimes category.This impressive display of talent means that these young archers will now represent their region at the French youth indoor championships in Cholet (Maine-et-Loire). They will be joined by fellow Boétiens Léon Fongaro, Pauline Grelot, Lola Loiseau Majeau, Léo Defevre, and Victor Sarroste, who will be looking to make their mark on the national stage.
Adult Archers Aim for National Glory
While the young archers stole the show in Lescar, the adult regional championships in La roche-chalais witnessed equally impressive performances.Romain septier, representing the Archers de Boé, secured a well-deserved silver medal, earning him a spot at the French championships in Vittel (vosges) on March 4th. He will be joined by Sandrine Fialon, who finished a commendable seventh in the league.
The Archers de Boé continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of French archery, particularly amongst the younger generation. Their consistent success is a testament to the club’s dedication to nurturing young talent and fostering a competitive yet supportive environment.
