An intense end of the seventh for the Ravenna Byzantine Archers, who between Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 February were protagonists both as archers and as organizers at the “City of Ravenna” Trophy, with which the new Indoor 2022 season officially opened. -2023. The 139 athletes from 25 companies in the region battled each other in the four rounds of competition, which also gave 14 Byzantines the opportunity to play their game. In terms of participation, it was the growing youth sector that dominated.
Sofia Fuschini and Beatrice Sebastiani (debut) color the podium of the women’s junior Olympic arch in yellow red, winning respectively the gold medal and the silver medal with scores of 525 (259 + 266) and 317 (179 + 138 ). Also very good was the little Viola Brunelli who won the silver medal with a score of 370 (189 + 181) for the very young female category, the smallest category admitted to the races). Confirmations come from Riccardo Venturi who with a score of 567 (281 + 286) climbs on the highest step of the podium in the male students category, compound bow. The gold medal also goes to Matelda Miolo, female junior naked bow, with a score of 335 (153 + 182). And the podium of the male master naked arch is also yellow red: Marcello Tozzola and Simone Pizzi, respectively conquering the second and third place with the scores of 510 (257 + 253) and 500 (247 + 253). The last individual podium is by Marcello Tozzola for the men’s masters Olympic bow, who, with a score not exactly in line with the recent results of 558 (279 + 279), wins the gold medal. The only team medal comes from Tozzola-Pizzi-Venturi for the male master naked bow who with a score of 1478 (510 + 500 + 468) conquer gold.
The other placings: wooden medal for Denis Costantini who, for just two points, misses third place, finishing 4th with 572 for the CO SM; 4th and 5th place for Mirko Sebastian Grassi and Stefano Corelli for the OL JM with scores of 513 and 411 respectively; 5th Massimo Venturi for AN MM with 468; 5th and 7th Concettina Palmiero and Giusi Torelli (at the debut races) for OL SF with scores of 484 and 375; Giovanni Putzu closes the placements 20th for the OL MM with 447. Once the efforts for the organization of the home match are over, the Byzantine Archers are now concentrating on the most important appointment of the season, the “XLIX Italian Indoor Championships” which will take the away on February 24th at the Rimini Fair. And if the championships have yet to begin, the small Ravenna-based club has already achieved a first result by qualifying as many as 6 athletes, the highest number of qualifiers ever achieved. Marcello Tozzola, Simone Pizzi (debut) and Angela Padovani will be present with the bare bow; Denis Costantini and the young Riccardo Venturi with the compound bow (both making their debut), Sofia Fuschini and Marcello Tozzola with the Olympic bow.
