While waiting to perhaps discover the Euroleague seniors with Asvel, the young shoots of the Rhone training center are doing their classes at the junior level, with success. On Sunday, the U18 team of Tony Parker’s club won the Euroleague tournament in Belgrade, dominating the local team, Red Star, in the final (80-73). Trained by Pierre Parker, Tony’s little brother, the Lyon team was able to count on the return of Kymany Houinsou.
Loaned to Saint-Quentin (Pro B), the young fullback (18) was recalled to his training club for this tournament in Serbia. And he took the opportunity to show himself. After a full game on Saturday (8 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) against Mega Mozzart (88-52), Houinsou made his presence felt defensively (14 points, 10 rebounds), signing a fierce counter near the circle on Pavle Misic to revive the Villeurbannaise dynamic (73-75, 36th). Etoile Rouge did not score a single point and had to bow. With Zaccharie Risacher (16, absent on Sunday), Houinsou was one of the two players present to have already been called up to the pro squad.
Another great hope of Asvel shone under the eyes of the scouts present in Serbia. Killian Malwaya (16) displayed all his athleticism against Red Star after already scoring 26 points in the last group match. The rear (22 points) notably concluded a counter-attack with a superb dunk on the head of opposing leader Vladimir Pavlovic in the second quarter (32-34, 15th). Minutes after his teammates won, Malwaya was named the tournament’s MVP.
Pierre Parker’s team was the only French formation present in Serbia this weekend.
