ATP: Matteo Berrettini has “no idea” if Nadal, Djokovic or Federer is the best player

“I swear there is no answer,” said the world number six in an interview with “La Republica” when asked who was the best.

“I’ve lost to both of them many times. Nadal is left-handed and takes you where he wants, which gives you the impression that he lets you play more and in the end he beats you,” said the 2021 Wimbledon finalist of the strengths of the Spaniards.

He also analyzed the Serb’s style of play: “Djokovic just disables you, he’s a great counter-attacker.”

“They both along with Federer are the greatest tennis players of all time, great athletes. That’s enough to understand what it means, them [auf dem Tennisplatz] ahead of you,” summed up Berrettini.

Berrettini also commented on the fact that the three players enjoy huge fan support on the tour and in matches against underdogs. “It’s just a matter of time, it will pass. The same thing happened to Nadal at the beginning,” he said.

Born in Rome, he explained that the public at the time was more concerned with established players like Pete Sampras or Andre Agassi and not with the new champions, who are also legends today.
