In the summer of 1994, I moved from Kolding to Viby and started studying psychology at uni and badminton at Viby BK.
After a little more than 20 years in the same club, my only until then, it was a major upheaval.
From being among the best, in some periods also the best, to just being one among many.
From being self-written for the first team in the Danish series to for a period having fierce matches for the fourth single on Viby’s 2nd division team.
From being a Senior Chairman to being an ordinary man. Without the last word.
From being a front man to having to take on a supporting role.
From my permanent place in the dressing room to a new place in the hierarchy.
From a very well-known circle of acquaintances to new people.
It became a steep learning curve, it was simply necessary, with many really good experiences and experiences.
In 1996 I moved to Frederiksberg, to my boyfriend and started in BK Smash, which no longer exists. From the front with the adjustment.
Since then, the club changed to Næstved, Vordingborg, Værløse and Vordingborg, and at the same time almost 10-12 years (from 1998) associated with Red Star Mulhouse in Alsace, France.
Each club has its history, its jargon, its cultural figures and customs…. “This is how we do it here”, most of which are unarticulated, not in writing and “hanging in the air”.
In Vordingborg we say “HONORABLE” when a player makes a super nice or a fantastic shot. Then it is “only” honorable! Typically Danish to underplay. You must not think you are anything.
In Viby after team matches, a tin mug containing 3 beers went on tour.
In Kolding we had 2 large one-liter beer mugs with 6 hoses in each – and then it was just about sucking in close competition with the away team.
It was a good Friday night on Vårkjærvej in Viby, with the old men, on the green courts and afterwards in the cafeteria with pork roast burger, thick brown sauce and wonderfully cool draft beer… ..and Superliga football between Vejle and AGF… .mudderbold.
Tomorrow the trip goes back to the east.
On Saturday, there is a Serie 1 match for Vordingborg against Team Vejleå in Tåstrup Idrætscenter.
It was a board meeting and training on Monday with the senior team, games and fun on Tuesday night with the Tuesday team – both in Vordingborg, panel discussion at the annual meeting and spectators at the Badminton League in Højbjerg on Thursday, Viby-cosiness on Friday night and team match on Saturday in Tåstrup.
This is how it may continue for many more years.
