The Xativa Badminton Club continues to add good results and senior athletes of the club won four medals in the tournament Top TTR Sub-11, Sub-15, Sub-19 and Senior held last Saturday in The Towers of Cotillas (Murcia). The Setabenses rose up with two golds and two bronzes. In the over 40 category, Julio Martín and MªJosé Mompó won gold in the mixed doubles (DX 40), after beating Antonio Jesús Rodríguez and Cristina Lamas 21-16, 18-21 and 21-12 in the final. , in a tough match that lasted up to 42 minutes. The two athletes from Setabense decided the day before to participate in the tournament, due to the muscular injuries they suffered.
Julio also competed in the men’s doubles CM 40, alongside Ángel Rodríguez (CB Las Torres), while José Luis Llopis, from Badminton Xàtiva, played alongside Antonio Jesús Rodríguez (CB Bad-Fly). Julio and Ángel won the gold after beating the Murcian duo formed by Manuel Berrocal and Antonio Brao in the final, 21-10 and 21-13. José Luis and Antonio Jesús won the bronze in the doubles, and José Luis Llopis also repeated the medal in the men’s singles category over 50. Carlos Martínez competed in the men’s over 60 category, who played the men’s singles and doubles matches , along with Cándido Osorio, finishing fourth in both tests.
The Xàtiva Badminton Club also attended the third day of the School Games of the Valencian Community for the children’s category, which was held on Saturday in El Campello. The four victories of Jesús Cimas stood out, consolidating himself in the first position in singles and in doubles, along with his brother Marcos, who won three victories, the fourth being resisted in a direct confrontation for first place against his brother . Ximo Torres also got three wins out of a possible four, and the rest of the Setabense players got at least one victory. Andrea Orquín, dropped out at the last minute, was unable to defend her first place in the standings.
