The inauguration of the XI edition of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, March 5 at 10:00 in the morning at the Danilo Acevedo stadium in Villa Altagracia, informed the executive director of Fundación Rica, Mr. Wenceslao Soto, on Tuesday.
He indicated that as in the previous 10 championships, it is organized for the participation of 220 players from three categories: 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18 years, precedents of the same head municipality of Villa Altagracia and its Básima communities, San José del Puerto, Guananito, Kilometers 63 and 61 of the Duarte Highway, among others.
He recalled that the contest has the support of the Rica Corporate Group, in collaboration with the MLB office in Santo Domingo, and that after the outbreak of Covid-19, it was already required by so many young people who have a dream of life through baseball. and that they are also part of the schools that Rica accompanies in that municipality.
Wenceslao Soto reported that for this year there will be a fundamental condition in the development of the RBI Fundación Rica tournament, which will be to follow the anti-covid-19 protocols established by the Ministry of Public Health.
He pointed out that although the tournament could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the last of those years the Rica Foundation carried out an orientation program for young baseball players and their parents or guardians, in order to make them feel the heat. for your support that you have been offering for so many years.
It consisted of the presentation of talks and instruction by MLB scouts, on training in values, the conduct that should be had in the community and family order, which had a high level of participation of athletes and the people to whom that were directed.
