Perugia secured a decisive victory over Pallacanestro Titano in the opening game of the second phase, triumphing 85-65. The Umbrian team’s offensive prowess, especially their exceptional three-point shooting, proved insurmountable for the visiting Titans.
Perugia’s sharpshooters connected on an extraordinary 16 three-pointers throughout the game, demonstrating remarkable consistency with nine in the first half and seven in the second. This relentless barrage from beyond the arc proved to be the key factor in their success.
The Titans started strong, building an early lead thanks to the combined efforts of Macina and Gamberini, who sank crucial three-pointers. Raschi and saponi also contributed effectively with a well-executed pick-and-roll play, pushing the Titans ahead 5-12.
However, Perugia quickly responded, finding their rhythm from long range and reclaiming the lead before the end of the first quarter. This trend continued into the second quarter, with Perugia extending their advantage to 33-25. Despite a valiant effort from the Titans, Perugia maintained their lead at halftime, 42-33.

Three-Pointers Reign Supreme: A post Game Analysis with Coach Porcarelli
Welcome back, basketball fans! This week on “Courtside Conversations” we’ve got a special guest, Coach Marco Porcarelli of pallacanestro Titano. Coach, thanks for joining us after a tough loss against Perugia.
Porcarelli: Thank you for having me. It was definitely a tough game, but there are always valuable lessons to be learned even in defeat.
you guys started strong, building an early lead. what changed the momentum in PerugiaS favor?
Porcarelli: Perugia came out firing on all cylinders, especially from beyond the arc. Their three-point shooting was phenomenal. We simply couldn’t match their intensity and accuracy from long range. They made 16 threes! That’s a testament to their practice and skill, but also a reminder that our defense needs to be tighter on the perimeter.
In the third quarter, yoru team showed some real fight, even taking the lead briefly. What sparked that comeback?
Porcarelli: I was proud of the way my players battled back. Gamberini, Saponi, and Raschi showed great hustle and made some crucial shots during that run. It shows the character and spirit we have on this team. Unfortunately, Perugia responded with those back-to-back threes from Versiglioni and Righetti, including a remarkable shot from Righetti practically from half-court! That really deflated our momentum and swung the game back in their favor.
There was a notable difference in three-point shooting stats. How important do you think this factor was in the final outcome?
Porcarelli: It was absolutely critical. Basketball is a game of momentum, and when a team gets hot from three, it’s incredibly tough to stop. Perugia’s ability to consistently knock down those shots was the key difference-maker.
Looking ahead, what adjustments will you be making for your next game against Ascoli? Will you focus on tightening that perimeter defense?
Porcarelli: Absolutely. We need to analyze our defensive game plan and make sure we’re communicating effectively and closing out on shooters quicker. We’re facing a tough Ascoli team next week, and we need to be prepared for a battle.
Great insights, Coach Porcarelli. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. We wish you and the Titans the best of luck in the next game!
