When the Juniors and Chemnitz meet, it comes to the top game in the NBBL relegation round north. With five wins and two defeats, the team of Juniors head coach Venelin Berov is in direct pursuit of the undefeated leaders from Saxony. “Chemnitz are very good opponents. They are physically and athletically very strong, offensively spread the scoring over many shoulders and play a lot of pick and roll,” says Berov, pointing to parallels to the playing style of his own team, which also creates many chances for each other. “We have to play our best possible defense, show discipline and take responsibility. We have to continue offensively as well, play as a team and take open shots with confidence.”
For the team of Youngsters head coach Marjo Heinemann, the duel against the bottom of the table from Bremerhaven is the first competitive game since the home win against Münster in mid-January. The past two games had to be postponed due to corona cases in their own team and among their opponents. “The training impressions are very positive. I’m expecting a concentrated performance in which, as always, team basketball is in the foreground,” says Heinemann. The youngsters from Göttingen won the first leg in the port city in December with 90:65. “Of course we want to keep our clean slate in the relegation and build on the performance against Munster.”
