Basketball World Cup 2023: Dominican Republic announced its call to face Canada and Bahamas

Center Eloy Vargas, shooting guard Víctor Liz and forward Ángel Luis Delgado lead the basketball team Dominican that will face Canada and Bahamas next Saturday and Sunday, in Santo Domingoin the second phase of the Americas qualifying window for next year’s World Cup.

Coach Melvyn López considered that the team has been made up of a “select group” of experienced and young players of great value for the aspirations of the ‘quisqueyano’ team to extend their unbeaten record of two victories.

López made his final selection after concluding training this Thursday at the Palacio de los Deportes in the Dominican capital, where the two games will be held.

The Dominican squad will play against Canada on Saturday, February 26 and against the Bahamas on Sunday the 27th, both matches starting at 6:00 p.m. local time, at the Palacio de los Deportes.

“These players have a lot of value for the aspirations of the national team and we count on them”, said López, who assured that the purpose is to reach a third consecutive participation in the Basketball World Cup, which this time will be held in Japan, the Philippines and Indonesia.
