Cay Dobberke has the following topics for you, among others:
- As a symbol against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the flag of the international organization “Mayors for Peace” (Mayors for Peace) is now flying in front of Charlottenburg City Hall. Shortly after the start of the war on Thursday, Mayor Kirstin Bauch (Greens) hoisted the flag together with the five city councilors and city councillors. The district office “condemns the blatant violation of international law and the attack on democracy” and is “greatly concerned about the humanitarian situation of the population” in Ukraine, it said in a statement. Solidarity with the district of Pechersk in Kiev, to which Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf has been linked in a town twinning for more than 30 years, is particularly emphasized. In an interview with the Tagesspiegel, Kirstin Bauch was “appalled that there was war on European soil again”. Many people in the district have family roots in Ukraine and Russia. More on this in the newsletter, other topics this time include:
- Corona vaccination center on the exhibition grounds is closing
- Wissmannstraße is renamed after the Jewish family Barasch
- Why an expert office advises against milieu protection in two residential areas
- BVV discussion about safety in public space
- Allotment garden association criticizes planned routes to Westkreuz S-Bahn station
- Zoo opens new predator house
