Bundesliga: Austria wins at bottom Altach

After initial sampling, the game tipped in favor of Austria early on. Ex-Altach professional Fischer made it 1-0 for the guests after a cross from Matthias Braunöder, and Ohio followed suit less than three minutes later. After Gianluca Gaudino lost the ball and a pass from Alexander Grünwald, the 19-year-old rounded Altach central defender Felix Strauss and sunk the ball from outside the penalty area with a well-placed shot via the inside rod.

As a result, Austria missed some top chances for a higher lead. Aleksandar Jukic took advantage of a mistake by Mickael Nanizayamo and played for Ohio, who this time had not adjusted his sights well from a good position (27′). In the 32nd minute Altach goalie Tino Casali was only able to fend off a Jukic shot with difficulty, after the following corner Eric Martel shot Casali from close range.

At the start of the year, Wiener Austria climbed to sixth place in the Admiral Bundesliga. The favorites prevailed 2-0 at SCR Altach on Saturday and thus swung on course towards the championship group.

“Violet” manage leadership

Altach got into the game better in the second half, but they were a long way from a turnaround because they couldn’t necessarily get in front of Austria’s Patrick Pentz’s goal. Things got the most dangerous with two attempts by Gaudino from an acute angle, which were defused by Pentz with a foot defense (83′).

The “Violets”, on the other hand, were content to control the match after the change of sides and brought the lead over time without any problems. As a result, Austria scored points again after two rounds without a win. Altach, on the other hand, suffered their seventh defeat in a row, scoring only one goal.

Comments on the game:

Ludovic Magnin (Altach coach): “Of course I would have wished for a great start, but I was also prepared that the game could be lost. It just shows that the road will be a rocky one. The goals came from own mistakes, but it has to be said that we couldn’t have complained if Austria had led 4-0. After the break it was a step forward. What is missing are the running paths and the game in depth. We must not only see black now. There are three games before the play-off, then we have to deliver. I’m still trying to find the right chemistry in the team.”

Manfred Schmidt (Austria coach): “My team threw everything in and delivered a very strong first half. Actually, I can only be a bit disappointed that we didn’t decide the game much earlier, then the second half would have been even easier. After the change of sides we didn’t play so clearly forward, but we didn’t allow anything and therefore won comfortably. That was important for this young team because the pressure was very high. It was a very mature achievement and a big step in the right direction.”
