A list with 24 potentially eligible players was sent to FIBA for the window that will be played between February 25 and 26 in Obras. The details.
With a view to what will be the second qualifying window towards the FIBA World Cup 2023, the Argentine National Team begins to define its path and fine-tune details for the matches that it will play on Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26. In this order, from the CAB a list of 24 selectable players for the window was issued this Monday. From this same list, which is worth noting that it is not a pre-selection or a call, those players who will finally be called for the National Team will be known.
It is a preliminary list that all National Federations regularly send to FIBA prior to the call, which is also notified to the corresponding clubs and institutions of each player to find out about their availability and possible call. The final list will come from here, since no player will be able to enter it if he is not first on the current list of 24.
“The mother entity FIBA requests by protocol a list of 24. Later, according to the criteria and the need of the coach, a list of between 14-15 players will be determined who will be part of this second window. Flexibility that the central organization gives us is that, knowing that the definitive 14-15 are going to be defined in the next few days”explained Andrés Pelussi, Sports Director of CAB.
After the two victories against Paraguay in the first window of November (93-67 and 82-43), the National Team will once again be local with the aim of reaching one of the seven tickets available on the continent for the World Cup. It will once again host the Obras Sanitarias stadium, the Temple of Rock, on a weekend that promises to be very special, waiting for a full stadium to cheer on the team prior to the Carnival holiday.
Argentina leads Group A of the Americas qualifiers with a 2-0 record, the same record along with Venezuela. It will play precisely against Vinotinto on the first day of the next second window, on Friday the 25th from 9:40 p.m. and in what will be a clash between pointers, powers of the continent with a lot of history and background. Then, on Saturday the 26th, the National Team’s rival will be Panama, starting at 9:10 p.m.
