On Saturday February 19, the municipal gymnasium of Capdenac hosted the third stage of the youth departmental circuit organized by the CODEP Aveyron, a first for the local club.
About forty players from the department therefore met for matches in women’s singles and men’s singles where all categories were represented.
For the occasion, on the Capdenacois side, seven young people represented the club.
In the Poussins Series: First competition for Aymé D’Ambrosio and Nolan Serin. A very satisfying start, Aymé and Nolan took second and third place in their pool.
In Single Ladies Series 2: it was also the debut of Maloë Peronne and Alwena Moncayo. First great victory for Maloë who ranks third in his pool. The youngest in the series, Noémie Macouin, finalist in Rodez last November, also managed a very good performance by taking out the top seed in her first pool match. The youngest will only bow in the semi-finals against a minimum from the Monastery club. In this series, the surprise will come from Alwena Moncayo. Ranked second in her group, she will reach the final and will find Héloïse Thémines of the Club du Monastère who had beaten her the same morning in the group match. The first two sets are tight. It will be necessary to wait until the middle of the third set for Alwena to manage to break away to win 21 – 13.
For men, in singles, series 2: winner in Rodez during the last youth tournament, Julian Delport found himself in a pool with much better ranked players. The matches are hung but he manages to finish in second place in his series.
In series 1: after a difficult start to the season, Loan Rouille was more than expected at home. This Saturday, the Capdenacois did not give up. His last match, and in particular the third set, kept the whole gymnasium spellbound. Defeated 19-21, we will have been able to appreciate the progress he has made against much more experienced players.
Next meeting with the fourth stage of the youth circuit in Villefranche-de-Rouergue next March.
