Young Badminton Stars Shine at Capdenac Tournament
The Capdenac municipal gymnasium buzzed wiht excitement on Saturday, February 19th, as it hosted the third stage of the Aveyron departmental youth badminton circuit. this marked a meaningful milestone for the local club, welcoming approximately forty young athletes from across the department for a day of thrilling singles matches.
Representing Capdenac were seven promising young players eager to showcase their skills.
In the Poussins Series, newcomers Aymé D’Ambrosio and Nolan Serin made an impressive debut, securing second and third place in their respective pools.
the Single Ladies Series 2 witnessed some remarkable performances.Maloë Peronne, competing for the first time, achieved a resounding victory, finishing third in her pool. Noémie Macouin,the youngest competitor in the series and a finalist in Rodez last November,continued her strong form by defeating the top seed in her initial pool match. Though she ultimately fell in the semi-finals against a formidable opponent from the Monastery club,her progress was undeniable.
The highlight of the series was undoubtedly Alwena Moncayo’s unexpected triumph. Despite finishing second in her group, she battled her way to the final, facing Héloïse Thémines of the Monastery club, who had bested her earlier in the group stage.The first two sets were fiercely contested, but Alwena ultimately prevailed, securing a 21-13 victory in the third set.On the men’s side, Julian Delport, the reigning champion from the previous youth tournament in Rodez, faced tougher competition in Singles Series 2. Despite the challenge, he demonstrated resilience, finishing second in his pool.Loan Rouille, competing in Series 1, delivered a captivating performance. After a challenging start to the season, he exceeded expectations on his home court. His final match, especially the nail-biting third set, captivated the entire gymnasium. Even though he narrowly lost 19-21, his determination and enhancement against more seasoned players were evident.The Aveyron youth badminton circuit continues with its fourth stage scheduled for March in Villefranche-de-Rouergue.

Marie-Laure Faron: loan’s performance was a highlight! It takes courage and dedication to come back strong after a tough start. His determination was evident in that final match,and pushing a more experienced player to a nail-biting third set,even in a loss,shows real progress.
