The archers de Castelsarrasin club celebrated another successful outing at the Occitania regional indoor archery championship in Muret. This year’s event marked a triumphant return for the young archers, who had faced significant disruptions to their training due to the pandemic.
“The competition was demanding for our seven selected archers and their coaches, Jean-Loup Viannet, Jean-Louis Roques, and myself,” shared Christian Le van, the club’s president. “We are incredibly proud of their performance,especially considering the challenges they’ve overcome in recent years. Despite the unpredictable training conditions,they secured a gold medal,a silver medal,two bronze medals,and demonstrated remarkable skill in their duels.”
Leading the charge for Castelsarrasin were Dorian Lemoine and Alicia chicquemoy, who clinched the regional champion and vice-champion titles respectively.Lory Carboué also secured a well-deserved bronze medal.

Jean-Loup: Thank you! It’s been a truly rewarding experience, seeing the commitment and resilience of these young archers pay off.
[Moderator]: Indeed! This victory is particularly commendable given the challenges posed by the pandemic. Can you tell us a bit about how your team overcame these training disruptions?
jean-Loup: It wasn’t easy. Essentially, everything came to a sudden halt. Imagine young athletes in their prime, accustomed to consistent training, suddenly finding themselves stuck at home with limited opportunities to practice. It was a difficult period for everyone, but these archers showed remarkable adaptability. They embraced online training sessions, focused on mental conditioning, and utilized any space they had available to maintain their physical fitness.
[Moderator]: Wow, that determination is inspiring! This makes their achievements even more notable. Dorian Lemoine claiming the regional champion title in the Minime Man category and Alicia Chicquemoy securing the vice-champion title in the Benjamin Woman category are highlights, but seeing Lory Carboué secure bronze in the cadet Woman category for Compound Bow impressed me. It truly seems the club has a bright future ahead.
Jean-Loup: Absolutely! Dorian, Alicia, and Lory are exceptional talents, but they represent the incredible depth of talent we have within our club. We pride ourselves on nurturing a supportive and collaborative environment where each archer can reach their full potential.
[Moderator]: You mentioned a supportive environment. How crucial was the collaboration between you, Jean-Louis Roques, and Christian Le Van, the club’s president, in navigating these challenging times and achieving this success?
Jean-Loup: It was absolutely vital.
We constantly communicated, shared ideas, and supported each other throughout the process. Christian’s leadership and tireless dedication were instrumental in keeping everyone motivated. Jean-Louis and I worked seamlessly as a coaching duo, focusing on individual athlete needs while maintaining a united front. This collective effort played a significant role in our success.
[Moderator]: This speaks volumes about the power of teamwork,both on and off the field. Now, let’s talk about the future.What’s next for the Archers de Castelsarrasin?
Jean-Loup: We’re not resting on our laurels. We’re already looking ahead to the next challenges, refining our training programs, and motivating our archers to strive for even greater heights. We believe in continuous betterment and wouldn’t be surprised if some of these talented individuals go on to represent our region at the national level.
