Alexey Lutsenko (Astana) won alone the new Clásica Jaén Paraíso Interior, played between Baeza and Úbeda over 196.1 kilometres, forty of them divided into seven sterrato sections. The Kazakh, in his first race of the season, was the one who made the best use of the terrain. He attacked on a sterrato stage with 40km to go and was caught coming back onto tarmac, but attacked again on the next path through the olive groves and no one could catch up with him.

A problem on a bridge where dirt was accumulating was the only difficulty he encountered. His gear stuck and he had to climb the last hill in Úbeda stuck, but he had enough of an advantage to show up alone. Acarabon only 44 cyclists, including Jon Agirre (Kern Pharma) and Mikel Iturria (Euskaltel) from Gipuzkoa. Xabier Mikel Azparren (Euskaltel) got into the initial breakaway and did not finish, like his teammate Xabier Isasa and Aritz Bagües (Caja Rural).

In Oman Jan Hirt (Intermarché) won and Julen Irizar (Euskaltel) left. On the other hand, Mathieu Van der Poel has concentrated in Denia to continue with his rehabilitation. There is still no fixed date for the return.
