Tied with Irishman Shane Lowry before 18e hole, the winner managed the sixth birdie of his day’s work to get his hands on his first coronation.
Straka gave a card of 66 (-4) on Sunday, which allowed him to conclude the competition with a cumulative of 270 (-10). For his part, Lowry finished his final round hitting the ball 67 (-3) times. This is the third day in a row that he has achieved such a performance.
Ahead by five strikes after the first three rounds, the American Daniel Berger completely collapsed during his last lap. The Florida native had a double bogey, three bogeys and only had two birdies. He thus gave a card of 76 (+4). He will therefore have to wait before obtaining his fifth career victory on the PGA Tour. Berger achieved his last coronation in February 2021, during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Berger took fourth place; he finished the event three strikes from the winner.
It was Adam Svensson who obtained the best result among the Canadians taking part in the Honda Classic. The BC native finished ninth in the standings, along with five opponents. He delivered a 73 (+3) card for his last lap, which represents his worst performance of the week.
Nick Taylor, meanwhile, jumped 27 places in the standings by shooting 67 (-3) in the fourth round. The Manitoban finished the tournament tied with a host of golfers at 16e rang.
