The Cleveland Cavaliers have strengthened again ahead of the trade deadline. Per Trade comes from Indiana Caris LeVert to the Champion of 2016.
This is reported by Adrian Wojnarowski ESPN. In return, the Cavs are sending Ricky Rubio, a protected first-round pick 2022, and two second-round picks to the Pacers. But the first rounder only goes to Indiana if Cleveland doesn’t end up in the lottery.
This season, LeVert appeared in 39 games for the Pacers, averaging 18.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists at 44.7 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from the three-line. In Cleveland, the guard meets his former teammate Jarrett Allen again. Both were part of James Harden’s trade to Brooklyn, Allen went straight to Cleveland, and the Pacers grabbed LeVert at the time.
The 27-year-old still has a contract until 2023 and has collected $ 17.5 million this season. The shooting guard is supposed to strengthen the Cavs’ thinned backcourt after both Collin Sexton and Rubio can no longer be used this season. LeVert is now supposed to relieve all-star Darius Garland in particular, the Cavs recently had big problems in attack when the point guard went to the bench. Still, Cleveland is one of the big surprises of the season with a 32-21 record (fourth in the East).
Rubio tore his cruciate ligament at the end of December and has now been traded for the third time in almost 16 months. The Spaniard’s contract expires at the end of the season, and the 31-year-old received $17.8 million this season.
The playmaker will probably not play a role in the Pacers’ plans. Indiana is heading for a bit of a rebuild, as this trade suggests. With a 19-35 record, head coach Rick Carlisle’s team is only 13th in the East and could be trading more players in the coming days. There are numerous rumors about the two Bigs Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis.
