RACERS Monster Energy Yamaha, Fabio Quartararo gives his impression after the first day of the 2022 MotoGP pre-season testing at the Mandalika Circuit.
In a statement on the official Yamaha Racing website, Fabio Quartararo said the condition of the Mandalika Circuit was like a motocross track. This is due to heavy rain since the night, which makes the Mandalika Circuit look dirty.
He also compared the condition of the Mandalika Circuit with several other circuits. Among them are Qatar’s Losail Circuit, Thailand’s Chang Buriram Circuit, and Argentina’s Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit.
“I think this circuit is like in Qatar, Thailand and Argentina, I experienced quite heavy braking. But I think the corner at Mandalika is pretty good, I’m happy here,” said Fabio Quartaro, quoted from Yamaha’s official website, Saturday (12/2/2022).
“To be honest, I’m really happy because in the morning it’s really complicated. The conditions are like a motocross track. In the afternoon I felt much better, our pace was very good. I recorded my fastest lap with 16 laps in the medium,” continued Fabio Quartararo.
As is known, the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test at the Mandalika Circuit has started since Friday, February 11, 2022. The racers have tried the Mandaika Circuit track on the first day.
This caused the first day of the pre-season test to be delayed due to clearing the track beforehand.
The first day of the pre-season test itself was closed by Pol Espargaro (Repsol Honda) who managed to become the fastest racer with a time of 1 minute 32,466 seconds. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo took fifth place with a time of 1 minute 33,108 seconds.
To note, currently the second day of pre-season testing is underway. Different from yesterday’s test, on Saturday (12/2/2022) the condition of the Mandalika Circuit was reportedly scorching hot.
Until the third session this afternoon, RSA Red Bull KTM racer, Brad Binder became the fastest with a time of 1 minute 31.814 seconds. Sneaking under him is Fabio Quartararo with a record 0.006 seconds longer than Brad Binder.
