The Los Angeles Rams won the 56th Super Bowl on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals (23-20). And Cooper Kupp, the California receiver, was voted MVP of the game. He cracked eight receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning one, at the very end of the game.
Kupp could not end his season in a better way. He had already finished top receiver of the year with 145 receptions, 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns. Which had earned him his first invitation to the Pro Bowl, the NFL All Star Game, and a presence in the typical team of the season.
The eighth receiver named Super Bowl MVP
28-year-old Cooper Kupp has been playing for the Rams since arriving in the NFL in 2017. An injury prevented him from playing the Super Bowl lost by his team in 2019 against the New England Patriots (13-3).
He is the eighth receiver to be named Super Bowl MVP, after Lynn Swann (Pittsburgh, in 1976), Fred Biletnikoff (Oakland, 1977), Jerry Rice (San Francisco, 1989), Deion Branch (New England, 2005), Hines Ward (Pittsburgh, 2006), Santonio Holmes (Pittsburgh, 2009) and Julien Edelman (New England, 2019).
