Giulia Nocciolini, in 52 kg, started the race well by controlling the French opponent Sarah Bothy and making her take two penalties. Unfortunately, the Sienese got the only shot in four minutes, thus losing the match. Too bad, because the judoka from Cus was not recovered and her European experience ended in the preliminary stages.
Giulio Muzzi, on the other hand, initially finds the French Quentin Marteau, an excellent judoka accustomed to the European sports halls in which he has repeatedly excelled. This time, however, the Sienese is determined, he immediately takes control of the match by defeating the French for ippon before time runs out.
In the quarter-finals he meets the Italian Audisio; the two know each other well, Muzzi is increasingly determined and slips two wazari with an excellent technique that earned him access to the semifinal. Here he meets Samuele Algieri from Turin, who suffers the grips and the excellent judo of Giulio Muzzi who, in control, takes three penalties to the opponent who is thus disqualified.
In the final for the gold he meets the Italian athlete from Val Susa Alberto Tripepi. The Sienese judoka tries to close the match on the ground twice, but Tripepi manages to get out and in the middle of the match he puts on a ippon that allows him to put the gold around his neck.
The judoka of Cus Siena had a great race, considering the difficult moment regarding the pandemic, with the difficulties in moving and training with other judokas.
The silver in the European Cup is an excellent result that arrives in Siena after six years, when Andrea Ferretti won bronze in the European Cup in Tampere in Finland in 2016.
The compliments go to maestro Cresti who followed the athletes and to the whole section of Cus Siena Judo for the excellent result. In a week, 9 judokas under 18 will be involved in the qualifications of the Italian Cadet Championship 2022.
