Del Potro Already Knows His Path In The Draw Of The Argentina Open |  ATP Tours

Next week at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires will be the first time since June 2019 that Juan Martín del Potro competes on the ATP Tour, and this Saturday the rival was defined. It will be against his compatriot Federico Delbonis, against whom he has a 1-0 record after winning five years ago in Indian Wells.

Del Potro currently sits at No. 757 in the ATP Rankings, and his last match came against Denis Shapovalov on the grass of Queen’s Club in 2019. Since then he has been struggling to come back from a knee injury.

At the ATP 250 in his native country, thanks to an invitation from the organization, he will be competing for the second time and for the first time since 2006 when he fell at the premiere against the Spanish Juan Carlos Ferrero.

The 33-year-old from Tandil is already at the tournament venue and has even been practicing on center court.

Tuesday at night will be their meeting. In case of winning, ‘DelPo’ would face the Spaniard Pablo Andújar or the also Argentine Juan Ignacio Londero in the second round.

Another of the first round duels to follow in the contest are: Pablo Cuevas against Federico Coria, Alejandro Tabilo against Pedro Martínez and Sebastián Báez against Holger Rune. The Norwegian Casper Ruud and the local Diego Schwartzman will be the top seeds. The former will debut in the second round against Roberto Carballés Baena or a qualifier, and the latter against Jaume Munar or a qualifier.
