This gives an account of a projection and a possible future in the big leagues for Alcalá, who seeks to reach MLB despite the fact that at the moment the start of the 2022 season is delayed due to a work stoppage while there are negotiations between the baseball union and the league.
In an interview with Noticias Caracol, Alcalá Cardoza acknowledged that after successfully completing his participation in the Colombian Professional Baseball League and the 2022 Caribbean Series, now he hopes to prepare himself so that some team is interested in him, because today he is a free agent after playing his recent games with Caimanes de Barranquilla:
Now to continue preparing myself and hope that some team is interested in me to play this summer
At the moment Alcalá does not have a team and he is ready to face new challenges that will allow him to continue growing as a professional and achieving more titles to accumulate in his record. Too admitted that the first match in the 2022 Caribbean Series was the most complex for the team, as there was high pressure and expectations after Colombia will reach the Caribbean international tournament without being able to achieve a single victory since its first participation as a guest country in 2020:
I think that the most difficult match was the first, we had a lot of pressure, we were 0-10 in the Caribbean Series and with that victory the team looked very different. In the grand final we had zero pressure, I think that no one in the team had it, we had already made history by reaching the final and being champions would already be a ‘plus’, I personally went out to do my job like all the previous games and thank God I got good results
Alcalá, who in the final against Gigantes del Cibao of the Dominican Republic pitched in 5 2/3 innings, faced 20 batters Y only allowed four hitsthe manager of Caimanes was also recognized, Joseph Mosquerawho was one of the keys of the Colombian team to lead the team that finally became champion.
The coach told us to just have fun and go out and do what we do best which is play baseball. When I won the title I felt 1000% happy, my skin crawled as we celebrated, it was a season of hard work and finishing it crowned champions of the Caribbean makes us feel very proud
