The first entry for the 2022 Piacenza baseball season concerns the technical staff and is actually a welcome return: Emilio Albertazzi boasts a very long militancy in the technical sector of all the red and white categories. In the early 1980s he began as a youth coach and then earned the role of head coach over the next few years. In the early nineties he moved to the first team climbing the hierarchy of the staff: first as a coach, then as vice-manager and finally, starting from the current 1996 season, as manager.
Albertazzi himself leads the team that gets promotion to Serie A2 for the first time: after a first attempt in 1997 that failed only in the final, the following year the red and white hit the historic promotion by winning the Serie B playoffs. Emilio continues to lead the league. first team in the subsequent A2 championships with excellent results: in the first two seasons as a newly promoted Piacenza obtains access to the playoffs for promotion to Serie A1 with an almost all Piacenza team.
More and more pressing work commitments in the following years limited Albertazzi’s commitments to the youth sector only, always within the Piacenza organization, until the break lasted a few years.
2021 marks Emilio’s return to the world of baseball: as coach of the Old Rags Lodi, he wins the Serie C round and then reaches the semifinal of the playoffs. However, Piacenza baseball has always been his home and thanks also to the less onerous work commitments of previous years, this year’s return seems almost obvious.
