Initially, qualifying for sloup was scheduled for Sunday, but finals and medals were scheduled for Monday.
However, due to heavy snowfall, which affected visibility, the organizers of the race decided to postpone the start times by 24 hours, so the qualifying race took place on Monday, but the final races are expected on Tuesday.
The 19-year-old Sildari achieved the best performance – 86.15 points – in the second race. It was the best result among the 26 athletes who started in the qualification.
Second place in the qualifying round is Juhanne Killi with 86 points, and third place is Ailin Gu from China, who scored 79.38 points.
Gu became the first Olympic champion in the freestyle skiing trick (“Big Air”) to make his debut in the Olympic program. Sildaru remained in 17th place in this discipline.
Sildaru, Estonia’s longest hope of winning a medal at the Beijing Olympics, said she liked the track, but it was very cold.
27 athletes were entered in the sloupstyle discipline, but 26 skiers started on Monday.
The 12 best owners qualified for the final, which will take place on Tuesday. There will be three races in the final. In the first race, they will start in reverse order according to the qualification results, ie Sildaru will start last.
