FC Barcelona reportedly interested in Nabil Fekir
FC Barcelona wants to reposition itself in the summer. Now, a report links the Catalans with Nabil Fekir.
FC Barcelona have apparently set their sights on Real Betis Sevilla playmaker Nabil Fekir. This is reported by the Spanish newspaper Sport. Accordingly, Barca President Joan Laporta is a big fan of the Frenchman, who is having a strong season at Betis. In the current season, the 28-year-old has contributed to 14 goals in 29 competitive games and has played a major role in Betis having a historic season.
The Green-Whites are in the cup final and are heading towards Champions League qualification in the league. In addition, Betis is in the knockout stages of the Europa League. The strong performances of the Andalusians have also reached beyond Spain.
FC Barcelona: Nabil Fekir only plan B for Haaland?
However, Fekir and other key players at the club such as Sergio Canales have only recently made long-term commitments with Fekir signing a working paper until 2026. And this could be the problem for Barca. According to the report of Sport Betis demands a transfer fee of 80 million euros – an amount that the cash-strapped Catalans will hardly be able to raise. Reportedly, Barca are only willing to pay €60m.
However, another player in the club has priority anyway. According to information from GOAL and SPOX, Barca want to try everything to sign Erling Haaland. The BVB striker should definitely come, the transfer should be made possible, among other things, by a partial sale of their own media production company. Fekir could therefore – if at all – only become an option if the transfer from Haaland does not work.
Left-footed Fekir moved to Seville from his youth club Olympique Lyon in 2019 – a transfer that caused astonishment. After all, larger European clubs were also considered interested in the 2018 world champions.
