FC Bayern Munich: Until the BVB change in the summer: What Julian Nagelsmann now expects from Niklas Süle – Bundesliga

Julian Nagelsmann (34) makes Niklas Sül (26) steam!

In the summer, after five years at Bayern, the central defender will switch to his biggest competitor Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer, where he will receive a four-year contract and a salary of around 12 million euros per season. In his last four months in Munich, Nagelsmann is now demanding full throttle from Süle again in the final sprint for the title!

The coach: “I expect that he will fulfill his character’s duty to throw everything in and give it his all. This absolute greed to give everything at Bayern until the last day so that we are successful and win the titles.

On January 2, Süle Bayern announced his decision to leave the club. Even Nagelsmann was surprised by the Dortmund change earlier this week. According to BILD information, a secret meeting in Cologne with BVB boss Watzke, coach Rose, sports director Zorc and license director Kehl was the deciding factor. The charm offensive with fruit and wraps impressed Süle. At Bayern he only felt really valued by Nagelsmann (both have known each other since the U17s in Hoffenheim and a total of ten years)…

Is BVB-Süle now threatening the bank against Bochum?

Nagelsmann is in a bit of a quandary: If he plays a back three like he did last time, he actually only has room for a central defender. Most recently, Dayot Upamecano (23) had to sit outside twice – but who is actually Bayern’s future (contract until 2026). But if Süle flies out of the starting XI at VfL (Sat., 3.30 p.m.), that would seem like a penalty. The DFB clearer is currently in good shape.

Nagelsmann: “I understand the club’s view of promoting players who have a long-term contract. And I also understand that fans are frustrated when a player moves to a club on a free transfer that they don’t like. But as a coach, it’s my job to evaluate the current performance – completely detached from contractual details. I can’t buy any of that in the summer when we’re without a title but I’ve used all the players who have five years left on their contract – but all of them were out of shape. Then no one says: Ok, you can still stay in office.”

Because Benjamin Pavard (25) was absent from team training this week as a precautionary measure due to an increased value in the corona test, Nagelsmann could rely on Süle AND Upamecano, i.e. SÜPAMECANO, against Bochum. Means: Süle would play on the right, “Upa” in the middle and Lucas Hernández (25) on the left.
