What would FC Bayern be without Lewandowski‘s goals? Without Müller‘s templates? And without Neuer’s parades?
“Without the three it will be difficult at some point,” says record national player Lothar Matthäus (60): “But with them I trust Bayern to do anything in the next two to three years!”
The clear recommendation of the former Bayern captain (between 1985 and 2000, among other things, seven times German champion) to the Bayern bosses: “I would extend the ‘Three Musketeers’ immediately. It’s amazing what they’ve done for Bayern over the past ten years or so. And they’re not getting any worse! Robert Lewandowski scores goals on an assembly line, Manuel Neuer is incredibly quick to react and Thomas Müller coaches the team on the pitch.”

All three contracts expire in 2023.
At least without one of the trio, Bayern will start the knockout phase of the Champions League at RB Salzburg on Wednesday (9 p.m.) – Neuer is known to be missing after knee surgery.
Matthäus is nevertheless convinced that Bayern will progress. During a panel discussion by Interwetten in the Bayerischer Hof in Munich, he said: “I feel sorry for Salzburg. Bayern will not perform like this twice in a row. Bayern must and will show a reaction. All in all, they will beat Salzburg with their offensive.”
Incidentally, the away goals rule no longer applies in European club competitions with immediate effect. That means: In order to progress, a team must score one goal more than the opponent in the sum of the first and second leg.
So far, the number of away goals has been the decisive factor in the case of a tie on points and goals.
