Federal Basketball League: in a tight final, Sarmiento beat Hindú in the Chaco duel

In a high-scoring game, with successes and errors on both sides, but with great parity and intensity, Sarmiento beat Hindú 100 to 96, a match valid for the third date of the NEA zone of the Federal Basketball League. Imposing his rhythm, before a huge audience, the Dean closed it better than the green car and with an outstanding collective performance, he got his first victory in the contest.

Patricio Aranda – who was absent on the opening date and this time played the 40 minutes – was the great scorer for Sarmiento and for the niche with 30 points (in addition to 12 rebounds and 2 blocks), well escorted by Del Castillo, Coronel (the equipment thermometer) and Álvarez. On the visiting side, Facundo De Jesús closed his scoresheet with 28 points (and 4 caps!), while Banegas, Ghidini and Magallanes also stood out.

Hindu started well, the Dean closed it better

From the initial jump there was a parity that lasted for much of the night. Sarmiento set the pace and achieved a small initial advantage (11-5), although the visit quickly, with great intensity and enormous effectiveness from the perimeter (5 of 5 in triples in the fourth), managed to match the actions and on closing position themselves high on the scoreboard. With many goals on both sides, Sarmiento – who lost Karabitian early due to a facial injury – stayed close with Aranda’s goalscoring (10 goals in this set), but Hindú had a better finish thanks to Ghidini, Banegas and De Jesús and the first quarter closed 27-31, in favor of the visit.

In the second episode, both improved defensively and it showed in the score. Hindú remained ahead in the first part of the quarter (30-37), but in the second half Sarmiento began to come back and thanks to the vast experience of Mauro Coronel he equalized the score in the last minute, and then went ahead and reaching the long break winning 48 to 45.

Parity was maintained in the third quarter. Those led by Rovner remained in front almost always, but the long rotation of their rival kept the Indian fighter close (and even winning a couple of times). At home, Bruno Álvarez had a good passage (rebounds in both painted areas and 9 of his 15 points in this part), and together with Del Castillo they underpinned Aranda’s role and scoring. On the side of those led by Díaz Cuello, De Jesús scored everything he threw, although that was not enough since the scoreboard was nailed at 77 to 73 for Sarmiento at the end of the penultimate quarter.

In the final chapter, Sarmiento had Spagnoli on one leg and Karabitian, with his face cut and bandaged like a mummy, sitting between the relays. Hindú, product of a long and even rotation, seemed to arrive more “whole” at the close. However, the experience of Coronel and Del Castillo was key for the Dean to impose his rhythm and take advantage of his moments. With three minutes to go, a three-pointer from Del Castillo gave the locals a difference of 12 (94-82), but Hindú, with pure bombardments from the 6.75 line, managed to discount. In the last seconds a play of 4 points (triple and foul) gave life to the visit, but Sarmiento was relentless from the line and was left with a triumph in the great duel of Chaqueños, winning 100 to 96 and celebrating with his people .
