Feyenoord Under 21 closed the autumn competition on Saturday with a home win against FC Groningen Under 21, which therefore missed the winter championship. It was 1-0 at Varkenoord thanks to a goal from Noah Naujoks. Many other Feyenoord Academy teams also came into action in the last weekend of February.
It was really old-fashioned at Varkenoord on Saturday. Football was played on almost all fields, people were standing along the lines everywhere and in and around the canteen of the sports complex it was all fun. That and the radiant sun made it good to stay at Varkenoord, freed from all corona restrictions.
The spectators were spoiled especially by Feyenoord Under 18, which turned it into a real spectacle at the beginning of the afternoon against the peers of sc Heerenveen. The formation of trainer Melvin Boel won 5-2 and thus secured second place in the autumn competition.
Many goals also fell at Feyenoord O16 and Feyenoord O15, who both played at home against NAC Breda. For Feyenoord O15, the outcome was successful with a 5-3 victory. Feyenoord U16 lost 2-3.
The full football Saturday was closed by Feyenoord O21, which visited the leader with FC Groningen. The northerners were able to secure the winter championship in Rotterdam, but Sipke Hulshoff’s team ruined that party. Noah Naujoks scored the decisive goal halfway through the second half and therefore Almere City O21 takes the title.
For Feyenoord O21 it was the last game in the autumn competition, in which the team finished in third place. The season will resume with a spring competition, which starts in two weeks on Saturday, March 12.
