Five Ravenna Judokas Qualify for National Cadet Championships

The Village Sports Center in Ravenna is sending a strong contingent of young judokas to the Italian Championships. seven athletes, including Claudia Barbeitos who qualified directly due to her remarkable ranking, will represent Emilia-romagna in the cadet category finals taking place in lido di Ostia from March 5th to 6th.

These talented athletes secured their spots at the highly competitive qualifying event held in Castelmaggiore,Bologna. The team, coached by Nicola Marzucco, Andrea Guadagnini, and Marina Polidori, showcased exceptional skill and determination.

Leading the charge are raul Damiani, who dominated the under 50 kg category, and Michele Fabbri, who secured second place in the 60 kg division. Ali Alazim and erik Sangiorgi both earned commendable third-place finishes in the 81 kg category.

The team’s success extends beyond these top performers.Filippo Belletti, Francesca Bertin, Michela Cicchetti, and Cristian Mihaescu tudor also delivered strong performances, placing third, second, and seventh respectively in their respective weight classes. LM: It’s impressive to see such decisive victories at this level. Raul’s technical mastery shines through in his results. michele, even though coming in second, showcases the grit and fighting spirit crucial for success in judo.

It’s fantastic to see such depth in the team. Ali Alazim and Erik Sangiorgi both claimed third place in the 81kg category. What does this say about the training program at the Village Sports Center?

LM: A program that cultivates multiple top performers in diffrent weight categories indicates a strong foundation in technique, physical conditioning, and mental fortitude. Coaches Nicola marzucco, Andrea Guadagnini, and Marina Polidori must be commended for their dedication and expertise.

You’ve focused on the top performers,but the success story extends further. Filippo Belletti, Francesca Bertin, Michela Cicchetti, and Cristian Mihaescu Tudor all put up excellent fights. How crucial is it to acknowledge the achievements of every competitor, even those who didn’t secure top podium positions?

LM: Extremely crucial! Every athlete who participates in a competition like this pours their heart and soul into their training and performance. Recognizing their efforts, regardless of placement, fosters a positive and supportive habitat wich is essential for long-term advancement.

I couldn’t agree more. Now, Lucia, looking ahead to the Italian Championships, what are your predictions for the Village Sports Center team?

LM: Based on their qualification performances, I believe they have a strong chance of bringing home some medals. Their dedication is evident, and with continued hard work and guidance, they can definitely make their mark on the national stage.
