Former Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch takes over as coach at Leeds United. This was announced by the English football Premier League club on Monday evening. After four defeats in a row, Leeds parted ways with Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa, who had been coach here since summer 2018. Marsch has been given a contract until 2025, and the American will make his debut away against Leicester City on Saturday.

RB Leipzig parted ways with Marsch in November. The 48-year-old had only taken over the coaching position at the German Bundesliga club five months earlier, after leading Salzburg to doubles in Austria’s 2019/20 and 2020/21 leagues.

“Jesse is someone we discovered at Salzburg a few years ago. We believe in his philosophy and his style,” said Leeds sporting director Victor Orta in a broadcast.

Marsch himself is looking forward to the new task in England: “I just want to support the club in the next phase of its history. I think my view of football fits in well here with what has happened over the past three and a half years.”
