Former baseball pro Jeremy Giambi takes his own life

Former baseball pro Jeremy Giambi is dead. He was only 47 years old. His body was found Wednesday at his parents’ home in Claremont, a suburb of Los Angeles.

As the coroner noted in their autopsy report, the former professional baseball player who played for the Kansas Royal Chiefs, the Oakland Athletics, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Boston Red Sox in Major League Baseball (MLB) in his career from 1998 to 2003 died was from the consequences of a pistol shot in the chest, which he said he inflicted himself. As the US portal “TMZ” reports, someone from the household called an ambulance late Wednesday evening, but any help came too late for Giambi.

Giambi is the brother of baseball superstar Jason Giambi. The pair of brothers play together for the Oakland Athletics in MLB. Jeremy Giambi, who served as an outfielder and first baseman, had a career batting average of .263 with 52 homers and 209 RBIs. He had his most successful time with the Athletics, with whom he reached the American League Division Series in 2001. Giambi earned $3.75 million during his career.

Jeremy Giambi also became known through film with Brad Pitt

He was played by Nick Porrazzo in the Hollywood film Moneyball, starring Brad Pitt. The Okaland Athletics publicly mourned the loss of their former player on Twitter: “It is with heartbreak that we learn of the passing of a member of our ‘Green and Gold’ family, Jeremy Giambi. We send our condolences to Jeanne, Jason, his family and friends.”
