Galatasaray NEF currently has only 6 healthy basketball players.
In the statement made by Galatasaray, the following statements were included;
“As it is known, as a result of several different athletes showing symptoms last week, covid positive was detected in 9 of our athletes and our FIBA Basketball Champions League matches, which were supposed to be played during the week, were postponed.
Finally, in the control tests conducted separately yesterday and today, it was determined that the covid positive status of 6 of our athletes continued, and the Turkish Basketball Federation and our rival Anadolu Efes Sports Club were informed of the situation. An application has been made regarding the fact that the play of the match poses a risk to the health of everyone who will be on the field tomorrow and that it should be postponed.
With the information given by the Turkish Basketball Federation, we have received a notification that the match will be played in accordance with the current covid procedures, despite all the applications made by us.
As we have only 6 healthy athletes as of now, our athletes whose covid positive conditions continue will need to be on the field tomorrow.
We will present the issue to the public’s information.”
