Four-time Dutch champion and defending champion Mark Caljouw won his first match 21-13 and 21-16 against Finn Achthoven. Joran Kweekel, the number two on the seeding list, thundered through the first round by beating Sebastiaan Li 21-3 and 21-4.
women’s ankle
In the women’s singles, three-time national champions Gayle Mahulette (1) and Jaymie Laurens (2) convincingly defeated their opponents in the opening round. Both women won their match in two games.
Mixed Doubles
In the mixed doubles Robin Tableing has to defend the title without his regular partner Selena Piek, who had to cancel sick for the tournament. Together with Jaymie Laurens he won in the first round against the Dennis Koppen / Anouk van Wijk couple. The second seeded duo Ties van der Lecq / Debora Jille also easily reached the quarterfinals.
men’s doubles
In the men’s doubles Dennis Koppen and Timo Stoffelen made a small stunt by eliminating the numbers two of the seeding list, Gijs Duijs / Brian Wassink. The Almere duo managed to win the match with 21-14, 16-21 and 21-15. The first placed couple Ties van de Lecq / Robintabeling managed to reach the last eight.
women’s doubles
The first seeded couple Debora Jille / Cheryl Seinen defeated the young duo Flora Wang / Florine Wille in two games in women’s doubles. Myke Halkema and Alyssa Tirtosentono (2) also won their match (21-12 and 21-18) against Rebecca van den Berg / Maureen Tan.
