Work on the future “City park”, the major 2022 project, initiated by the new municipality, began in December and is well underway for everything to be finished in May. This large project, 117,000 €, was possible thanks to funding from the DETR, 26,000 €, ANS, 23,000 €, 30,000 € from the competition fund of the Villeneuvois conurbation, probably 12,000 € from Smavlot and 35 000 € from the municipality. Bertrand Planté, the mayor, reaffirms that “this will not impact the municipal share of local taxes.” This total amount includes the “City park” and the pétanque court. And to add: “This project is essential and responds to the growing demand of the population to have an intergenerational playground. But also so that schoolchildren can practice various sports in complete safety.” This space, both educational and public, will offer the possibility of practicing sports such as basketball, mini-football, handball, volleyball, tennis, pétanque, badminton, archery, etc. A small athletics track will surround the main playing area. Mountain biking, with the Sainte-Colombe club, will also be on the sports menu and more broadly this will allow all school children to learn to ride a bike. The pétanque court will be “out of the way” from the “City park”. All the work is carried out by local companies.
