22 young hopefuls from the Judo Union Klosterneuburg traveled to Opava in the Czech Republic on Friday to take part in a tournament there.
For more than a third of the children it was their first time at a real tournament. In addition to a gold medal from Laura Kunyik, there were also five second places for Sophia von Lutz, Tamia Eckl, Rom Uvaidov, Fabian Patzka and Mats Harlander.
But even those judokas who did not make it into the medal ranks were able to gain important experience at the tournament.
“These impressions, competitive situations, experiences and emotions are priceless and will certainly be outweighed by precious metals in future events. Congratulations to everyone who took up the challenge,” chairman Robert Haas was proud of the performances of his protégés.
